I am so happy to be on the Blog Tour for Kerry Fisher’s book The Silent Wife. It has been really hard to wait to tell everyone how much I enjoyed this book.

About the Book

Would you risk everything for the man you loved? Even if you knew he’d done something terrible?

‘A heart wrenching and gripping tale. I was hooked from the very first page.’ Write Escape

Lara’s life looks perfect on the surface. Gorgeous doting husband Massimo, sweet little son Sandro and the perfect home. Lara knows something about Massimo. Something she can’t tell anyone else or everything Massimo has worked so hard for will be destroyed: his job, their reputation, their son. This secret is keeping Lara a prisoner in her marriage.

Maggie is married to Massimo’s brother Nico and lives with him and her troubled stepdaughter. She knows all of Nico’s darkest secrets – or so she thinks. Then one day she discovers a letter in the attic which reveals a shocking secret about Nico’s first wife Caitlin. Will Maggie set the record straight or keep silent to protect those she loves?

For a family held together by lies, the truth will come at a devastating price.

A heart-wrenching, emotionally gripping read for fans of Amanda Prowse, Liane Moriarty and Diane Chamberlain.

My Review

Well, this book is a firecracker that I wasn’t expecting. The back of the book does not prepare you for the emotions you will experience reading this novel.
Kerry Fisher has crafted a vivid and realistic family in this book. You can feel the family ties linking the characters of Nico, Massimo, and their mother. She has woven their history into the way they interact with each other, and this is the backdrop of Lana and Maggie’s stories. The writing style in this book was subtle and sophisticated, and I was enthralled in the dynamics of this family who live on each other’s doorstep. Normally, when a novel is told from two different people’s perspectives, I find myself drawn to one over the other. But because Lana and Maggie were both fascinating women and they were trying to exist in the toxic environment of a matriarchal family I enjoyed reading about both of them.

There are many themes explored in this book. For instance, the lives, and perspectives of those that are rich and those that are poor. What makes a good parent, and other more harrowing topics. I can’t really say much more without giving away the plot of the book but suffice to say, this is a rollercoaster of emotions, with laughter, sadness and a satisfying ending that will bring a lump to your throat. While it isn’t what I would describe as a traditional heart-racing thriller, the realistic and compelling characters will hook you and make you want to keep reading.
